A single mother from Plymouth has been told that she could face jail after a glass attack left another woman with horrific facial injuries

A single mother from Plymouth has been told that she could face jail after a glass attack left another woman with horrific facial injuries. Demi Lemin, aged 20, from Maker View, Stoke, was due to face trial at Plymouth Crown Court yesterday. She was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and with unlawful wounding. Lemin and the victim, 19 yr old Rebecca Jones, were in the ladies’ toilet of The Underground bar on Mutley Plain. Rebecca was distressed, there was an exchange between the two and Rebecca pushed Lemin, who pushed her back. Lemin then lashed out in self-defence, with no conscious knowledge that a glass was in her hand. Lemin is expected to be sentenced in the same court by the same judge this Thursday.

Nasty Clubbers In Plymouth Could Be Tasered !!!

140 officers across the Plymouth city will be trained in the use of the Taser. Some police officers have already taken the intensive three-day training programme, passing a required standard which allows them to carry the Taser along with a extendable baton and pepper spray. The Taser incapacitates subjects by passing 50,000 volts of electricity into the body via two 21ft wires. It disrupts the muscles of the offender, rendering them incapable of normal movement. This new move by the Devon & Cornwall police is hoped to make Plymouth generally safer for the public as well as the police themselves.

Colourful contemporary artwork lands at a South Hams gallery next month. Flying Colours, at Harbour House, Kingsbridge, features paintings and mixed media works by Aline Rose and Diana Booth. Aline's pieces show her passion for wildlife and nature. The Totnes-based artist's drawings in pencil or ink are highly detailed, mixed media works bright and inventive, and acrylic paintings bold and powerful. Each has a message, a silent plea for more compassionate treatment of life on Earth. Her new work includes local and British landscapes, alongside acrylic and bead art paintings of marine animals and insect life.

Emergency services were called to the Mutley Spice Indian restaurant at around 5pm after reports of a blaze which had started in the basement of the building. Three fire appliances from Greenbank were sent to the scene and investigators are still trying to establish the cause of the fire. Two fire engines were also forced to park in the road at Belgrave Road in order to deal with the blaze. Nobody was injured.
